Boy with rare cancer appeals for urgent help
A 21-year-old boy from Brgy. Kinasang-an Pardo, Cebu City is in desperate need of urgent financial help to sustain his medical treatment against a rare type of cancer.
Jay Roldan Biadnes was diagnosed with Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma, Stage 3 on January 2023. Five months before his diagnosis, he experienced nose bleeds. A month after that, he noticed a growing tumor in his right cheek. They were alarmed by this observation, so they went to the hospital for check-up. On January 2023, surgery to remove the tumor was performed. Biopsy of the specimen was also done and the result confirmed his diagnosis. Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that forms in the cartilage or other soft tissues in the body, usually in the head and neck. This is often an aggressive form of cancer which grows fast and spreads to other parts of the body causing life-threatening complications. This disease occurs with greater frequency in young adults.
Because of his serious diagnosis, Jay’s attending physician recommended that he needs to undergo a 33-cycle radiation therapy at the soonest possible time. Due to financial constraints, he was unable to do so. On March 2023, Jay’s tumor grew again and it is increasing in size rapidly. At the moment, he is waiting for the start of his radiation therapy. Treating Jay’s delicate disease requires costly medications, regular laboratory tests, and medical procedures. His radiation therapy is estimated to cost around P51,000. Truly, his family does not have any means to cover this expensive treatment on their own.
Jay is an active and cheerful boy. He likes to go biking with his friends. As the eldest of the five siblings, he is immensely loved and treasured by his family. When asked about her wish for Jay, his mother said, “I hope that his disease will be healed completely. I also pray that by the Lord’s mercy, He will alleviate Jay’s pain and will not let him suffer greatly. I wish that one day he will recover from this dreaded disease. I also sincerely appeal to kind individuals to please support us financially because we are really struggling right now.” His mother is a house helper who earns at least P6,000 every month. His father unfortunately suffered a heart attack and died in 2021. Their family is truly hard-pressed financially and his mother’s income is barely enough to cover their daily expenses. Adding to their financial woes is Jay’s prescribed radiation therapy that they could not afford. They are genuinely in need of help. Hence, in order to save Jay’s life, his family is humbly pleading for financial assistance from generous individuals who are willing to share their blessings.
