Cebu City Councilor Nida Cabrera filed a resolution to close the landslide prone relocation sites in barangay Budlaan.

In a resolution she filed in yesterday’s session, Cabrera said the city shouldn’t accept more settlers in these sites.

Barangay Budlaan is one of 20 barangays identified as landslide prone by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).

She said phase three of the Budlaan relocation project is located at a steep slope which also endangers those living below.

There are 56 households living in the slope, Cabrera said.

Aside from a moratorium on accepting settlers, Cabrera said the city government should conduct site development and craft a guide for local officials to identify and address hazards in barangay Budlaan.

Vice Mayor Edgar Labella said they will look into the development of the relocation sites in barangay Budlaan in their session next month.
