Fr Uy: Unity key to winning back national crown

TAGBILARAN CITY – Play as one region.

Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa)-Region 7 president Fr. Vic Uy, SVD said this is what needs to be done if Central Visayas wants to reclaim the overall title in the coming national games of the school-based, multi-sporting meet.

Uy addressed the Central Visayas athletes and coaches in yesterday’s opening ceremony of the 2015 Prisaa-7 regional meet held at the JJ’s Seafood Village here.

Almost 1,000 athletes and coaches from Cebu City, Dumaguete City and Bohol schools will be competing in this meet, with the winners making up the Central Visayas team that will vie in the nationals in Iloilo on Apr. 12 to 18.

“It will be a big challenge for us to retake the overall national championship since we will be playing in their turf,” Uy said.

The Western Visayas Prisaa (Region 6), where Iloilo belongs, put an end to three-time national champions Central Visayas Prisaa’s dream of achieving a four-peat in the 2014 edition at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

“But I believe that we can regain the national championship title even if we are playing in their turf because we have the best athletes here from Cebu City, Dumaguete City and Bohol. So I challenge you athletes and coaches to win back the overall title by playing as one team and not as individual schools,” Uy said.
