THE local government of Alegria in southwest Cebu held its own special assessment ahead of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) second round of Listahanan.
“We appreciate the local government unit (LGU) of Alegria for initiating a household assessment in their own locality,” said DSWD Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat.
“Through the Listahanan (formerly called the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction), we would be able to objectively identify who and where the poor are in the town,” Jabagat said.
“We also hope that after the result, they would use the data as their reference for selecting beneficiaries for their social protection programs and services,” Jabagat underscored.
The municipality of Alegria hired 24 enumerators, who were trained on how to gather data in the field using the Family Assessment Form. A total of 1,355 households are expected to be assessed during the two-week period starting last Feb. 16.
