Mayor Cortes launches Mandaue’s new campaign on 54th Charter Day anniversary

MANDAUE CITY, Philippines —Mandaue City has launched its new campaign aimed to bring Mandauehanons together to move to new heights.

‘Move Mandaue’, the city’s new campaign, was unveiled last Wednesday, August 30 when the city celebrated its 54th Charter Day Anniversary.

This was done by Mayor Jonas Cortes and Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede with the city councilors and Provincial Board Member Glenn Soco, during the celebration.

New campaign, theme

With the new campaign and theme, the city hopes to move together towards greater heights. ‘Move Mandaue’ is under the city’s slogan ‘I Am Mandaue’.

Cortes said that the campaign is a call to action for the city’s residents to work together  regardless of religion and age to make Mandaue City even greater.

‘Move Mandaue’, a movement of collective actions

During his speech, he said that this movement was not just one person or one community, but it would be about collective actions and that everyone would have a vital role in the development of Mandaue.

“It is about a symphony of lihok wherein each one of us plays a vital role, it is a about a city that moves us as one, where a pursuit of growth is a shared responsibility, and the journey towards excellence is a joint endeavor,” Cortes said.

“It is about embracing the spirit of unity, that makes us stronger together than what we could ever be. In this new era, where there is no stopping, we are a city who refuses to stand still, where the spirit of Mandauehanon is ignited with the fire of progress,” he said.

I am Mandaue

“Let us proudly proclaim, I am Mandaue and I am a force of a positive change, let us stand together as we embark on this journey, a movement that will shape the destiny of Mandaue for generations to come. Together let us move to greater heights and let us make history in every lihok, step, heartbeat dedicated to our city’s transformation. Mandauehanons, let us move forward and let us move as one, let us move Mandaue,” he added.

Cortes also offered the anniversary celebration on Wednesday, August 30, to the ancestors for their efforts for the betterment of Mandaue and for making it into a city.

Parade

Before the launching, a parade was conducted participated by city employees. It was followed by a mass conducted at the city hall grounds.

“This parade is not only a celebration of Mandaue City’s charter day but also a testament to the passionate and dedicated individuals who worked for the betterment of our community,”  said City Councilor Jennifer Del Mar, chairperson of the 54th charter anniversary celebration.

“It is a reminder of the impact of each employee has in shaping the city’s future and fostering a strong bond between the government and its people, together let us create a sustainable and inclusive community,” Del Mar said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared, August 30, a special non-working day in Mandaue to mark the celebration.
