CEBU CITY, Philippines— In the dazzling world of festivals, it’s not just the dancers and choreographers who steal the show. More often than not, it’s the propsmen too.
To make every presentation a success, there are a number of people manning the presentation off-stage and even literally behind the dancers.
In a side-splitting video shared by dance master Shacquil Lauza Olaviar of Badian’s Banig Festival at the recent Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, we get to peek into the wild world of propsmen.
Olaviar dropped a video on his Facebook account that’ll tickle your funny bone and open your eyes to the hidden world of props.
In the video you can see Martylle Esparaquera, the leader of the props department, taking charge during one of their practice sessions.
“Since dancemaster man ko naa ko sa tungod gyud ana sa center kay nag guide ko sa mga SUPPORT STAFF kay sila man ang assigned sa pag kuha sa costume… then si MARTYLLE kay cya man ang leader sa propsmen nga assigned ana.. nya si MARTYLLE kay very naning gyud kaayu na cya. Cya gyud na ang mag pa tapok sa mga propsmen kay mga baby boys man ang mga propsmen.. Nya always on time sa praktis walay absent sa among 3months preparation everyday praktis,” he said.
This video has gone viral, spreading laughter like wildfire across the internet. Propsmen, unite!
These unsung heroes pour their heart and soul into helping dancers with quick costume changes and prop swaps that are more epic than a superhero costume change.

The Badian contingent showcased their Banig Festival, earning a respectable 12th place in the ritual dance showdown at this year’s Pasigarbo sa Sugbo.
Kudos to all the propsmen who are also the stars behind the scenes, making the magic happen, one costume change at a time! /rcg
