Cebu Gov.  Hilario Davide III said he will allow the opening of the Capitol access road in support of Cebu City Hall’s experimental traffic route scheme along Escario Street, Cebu City.

“I understand, gi-experimentohan pa na sa Citom (Cebu City Traffic Operations Management). Affected man ang Capitol kay duna man tay mga kaubanan nga dinhi nanarbaho, so ilang gi-experimentohan asay maayo gyod nga solusyon (Citom is experimenting. The Capitol is affected because we have colleagues working here, so they are experimenting what are good solutions),” he said.

Davide, who spoke with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama over the phone, said he will allow private vehicles to use the Capitol grounds to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

But he said he will confer with Citom chief, Joy Tumulak before allowing traffic signs to be put up in the compound. There is a no-left turn policy for vehicles passing through Escario street and heading to Osmeña Blvd.

There’s also a one-way scheme enforced in Gov. Roa Street towards Llorente Street and from Escario Street corner F. Ramos Extension going to Avila Street.
