HANGZHOU, China—Marion Kim Mangrobang couldn’t bring her winning act to the 19th Asian Games and landed far out of the medal race in women’s triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist completed the swim-bike-run race in two hours and 13.49 seconds, winding up 13th out of 21 endurance warriors amid the drizzle and mist at the Chun’an Jieshou Sports Centre Triathlon Course.

Japanese Yuko Takahashi checked in ahead of the rest in 2:01:04 to claim the gold, beating China’s Lin Xinyu by 26 seconds. China’s Yang Yifan got bronze in 2:02:31.

Raven Faith Alcoseba arrived 23 minutes off the champion in 2:24:05 and ended up 16th.

Southeast Asian champion Fernando Jose Casares will likewise go home with an empty bag after finding the continental field tougher with a 10th-place performance in men’s triathlon on Friday.

Casares, who claimed back-to-back gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games, crossed the line in two hours and 53 seconds, 10 minutes behind Japanese winner Kenji Nener.

Japan completed a 1-2 finish in the men’s side with Makoto Odakura grabbing the silver in 1:51.49 and Kazakhstan’s Ayan Beisenbayev picking up the bronze in 1:52.25.

Another Filipino, perennial SEA Games silver medalist Andrew Kim Remolino arrived 13th out of 29 competitors in 2:04.47 after completing a swim of 1.5km followed by a bike sequence of 40km and a 10km run.
