Help desk against vote-buying launched by Lapu police

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu– A help desk called “Kontra Bigay” was launched by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) to address vote-buying in the coming elections.

The help desk will be operational before and during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections scheduled on October 30, 2023.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Torres, spokesperson of LCPO, said that currently, they haven’t received any complaint yet regarding vote-buying.

“Gi-launch to nato naa ra sa opisina sa atong investigation. Kung naay alleged nga mga vote-buying, either kwarta or in kind nga mga reklamo sa mga kandidato, diha moduol sa among opisina,” Torres said.

Torres, however, urged those who would lodge a complaint to bring evidence or witnesses to prove them to the help desk.

He said that after they conducted a case build-up, the complaint would be endorsed to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the formal filing of charges.
