Pajo fire victims receive cash aid ranging from P5,000 to P15,000
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Fourteen families, who were affected by the fire that hit Sitio Kitchen, Barangay Pajo in Lapu-Lapu City, received financial assistance from the city government on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan led the distribution of the financial assistance, together with City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) head Junard Abalos.

P15,000 for affected homeowners
Abalos told CDN Digital that seven homeowners, whose houses were totally burned, received financial assistance worth P15,000 each.
Aside from this, two homeowners with partially damaged houses received P10,000 each, while five sharers and renters received P5,000 each.

Electrical misuse eyed
On October 6, a fire hit the areas, which firefighters believed were allegedly caused by electrical misuse.
The damage of the fire was estimated at around P105,000.
Chan, for his part, said that the amount the fire victims had received could be used for them to purchase housing materials.

How to build their houses
“Sa pagkakaron, anaa pa sila sa atong mga evacuation center samtang nangita pa sila paagi nga makatukod og balik sa ilang mga pinuy-anan,” Chan said.
(For now, they are still in the evacuation center while they are still looking for ways to build their houses again.)
Aside from the financial assistance, they also received kitchenware, and pail, among others.
Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan also donated diapers and milk to families with an infant.
