The Cebu Provincial Board and the contractors of the sand and gravel quarrying in Sapangdaku River in Toledo City agreed to form an association for proper monitoring and implementation of quarrying guidelines.
PB member Grecilda Sanchez-Zaballero said the contractors agreed to form a group during their March 30 meeting.
The creation of an association that will be composed of small-scale and large-scale contractors in Sapangdaku River is seen to be the most effective way to monitor quarrying activities in the area.
Toledo City has come up with a resolution to ban river quarrying in the entire stretch of Sapangdaku River in the next five years.
