The Cebu city government denied the claim of the head of the Cebu City Police Office Clearance Section that the city gets P80 out of the P130 amount charged to secure a police clearance.
Acting treasurer Diwa Cuevas said Cebu city only collects P45 per clearance — P25 as the city’s share and P20 for the documentary stamps which will go to the national government.
The share the city receives is provided in a city ordinance.
She said that receipts are available to prove their claim.
She said the City Treasurer’s Office will investigate the matter.
Clearance Section Chief Insp. Roy Manguilimotan earlier said Cebu City gets a share of P80 out of the total amount collected for the issuance of a police clearance.
Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, chairman of the Police Advisory Coordinating Council (PCAC), earlier questioned why the Clearance Section collects P135 and only gives P25 to the city as its share.
He also ordered an investigation on the role of a private service provider which has been issuing police clearances since 2012.
