LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Officials of CTU-Main Campus said that they are taking action on allegations that one of their male teachers committed sexual harassment.

According to Lawyer Joelie Marie Medalle, Presidential Chief of Staff and Acting Chief Administrative Officer of CTU, in August 2023, they received an email from an unknown sender alleging that a male professor committed sexual harassment against a male victim.

The complaint alleged that they were seen sleeping together inside a classroom.

Medalle said that when they received the complaint, they immediately investigated and sent a notice to explain to the concerned professor on August 24, 2023.

On August 29, the professor responded and strongly denied the sexual harassment allegation.

Aside from this, they also sent a notice to the complainant and urged him to file a sworn statement and testify before the Committee on Decorum and Investigation.

However, since the complainant failed to appear and send evidence, they dismissed the complaint.

“He even attended the conference, nag-schedule kami ng conference hearing with the committee, he attended. We also invited the complainant yung sa e-mail address na ginamit niya kasi anonymous eh, hindi naman siya naka-attend,” Medalle said.

After they dismissed the sexual harassment complaint, they received another complaint from an unknown complainant, wherein the names of a dean and a former dean were mentioned.

Due to this, Medalle said that they asked those mentioned in the complaint about the allegation. However, they refused to issue any statement since they do not have any idea about the complaint.

Medalle appealed to the said student, who was allegedly molested by a professor, to come out and formalize his complaint.

“Nag-reply siya, napagod na siyang mag-attend-attend, eh hindi naman under oath (yung complaint),” she added.

She said that the university would not tolerate this kind of behavior, especially if proven that the said professor was responsible for a criminal act.

Currently, the concerned professor is still teaching in the said school.
