Young woman found dead in Pinamungajan, Cebu
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Police continue to investigate the death of a young woman whose body was found dumped in a creek in Pinamungajan town in southern Cebu on Monday, January 15.
Authorities in the area received a dead person alarm at 1:20 p.m. on Monday.
A concerned citizen reported discovering a dead body of a female along the creek in Purok Cacao, Brgy Camugao, also in Pinamungajan.
The victim was eventually identified as Jocelyn Caparida Samillon, 21, who is also a resident of the same area.
Police Major Gilfred Baroman, chief of the Pinamungajan Police Station, said investigations are ongoing to determine Samillon’s cause of death and how her body ended up in the creek.
These included verifying reports that the victim may have been allegedly raped.
Samillon was last seen joining a village disco on Sunday evening, January 14, before she was found dead the following day.
Pinamungajan is a second-class municipality located approximately 54 kilometers southwest of Cebu City.
