Police Staff Sergeant Job Joseph Fajardo, desk officer of the Dalaguete Police Station, said that the couple has been married for five years.
They also have two daughters aged 5 and 3.
He added that they have not received any previous reports of domestic violence committed by the husband probably because the wife had kept those painful instances to herself.
According to the report, the woman could no longer take the abuse and aggressions of her husband, which intensifies when he is intoxicated.
The man, however, reportedly did not hurt the children.
The wife’s fears were compounded by the fact that her husband owned a gun, the report said.
After suffering for so long, the wife decided it’s about time to end years of domestic violence and sought the help of authorities.
Fajardo told CDN Digital in a phone interview that the suspect did not resist arrest. He was brought to the town’s custodial facility on Thursday.

Lando is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Dalaguete Police Station.
