CEBU CITY, Philippines — Key officials from the Province of Ilocos Norte recently paid a visit to Danao City in northern Cebu.

Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Manotoc, together with some department heads counterparts in the province, visited Danao on Wednesday, February 28, according to the city’s public information office (PIO).

To note, it was also the second time this year that officials of the said province visited the local government of Danao.

The first visit took place on January 29 which was led by Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos together with the members of their Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The PIO said that the productive discussions and collaborative initiatives in the January visit laid the groundwork for deeper cooperation between Ilocos Norte and Danao City.

The city government is “a sisterhood relationship on the pipeline,” according to the PIO.

Moreover, no projects yet are proposed by the provincial government to the city as they are still focusing on the partnership between them.

“Governor Manotoc mentioned earlier that he wishes to move forward with the partnership between Ilocos Norte and Danao City,” said the PIO.

‘Loyal ally’

Meanwhile, Danao City Mayor Thomas “Mix” Durano thanked the officials of Ilocos Norte Province for their visit in their locality.

“As you set foot into our city, into my hometown, you mark the visit of a third generation Marcos reaffirming and renewing our families’ deep relations that started in the undying friendship between my grandfather, Ramon ‘Mano Amon’ Durano Sr., and your grandfather, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.,” Durano said, addressing his message to the governor.

Durano also assured that Ilocos Norte “will always find a friend” with Danao City as well as a “reliable partner and a loyal ally.”

“Ours is a testament of the undying friendship beyond politics,” the mayor added.

In his response, Manotoc hoped their province and Danao City would prosper in government and “for the benefit” of their people.

“I know that we have much to learn from you, and we can both help each other and look forward to this growing friendship not only between our families but also between the city and the province,” the governor added.
