CEBU CITY, Philippines – A 38-year-old man landed in jail for trespassing and allegedly chasing down evil spirits here on Monday midnight, April 1, 2024.

The crime took place past 12 a.m. on Monday in Brgy. Basak San Nicolas, with the suspect identified as Luprencio ‘Louie’ Saba Ranas.

The 38-year-old Ranas claimed he trespassed his neighbor’s house after seeing his relatives, whom he identified only as ’Tembo’ and ‘Sadam’, enter the property.

On Sunday evening, March 31, the three were on a drinking spree, Ranas told Cebu-based radio station dyHP in an interview on Tuesday, April 2.

Shortly after, the suspect chased both ‘Tembo’ and ‘Sadam’ when he saw them enter the house of his childhood friend, whom he referred to as ‘Fritzie’.

Once inside his neighbor’s house, Ranas added he saw evil spirits and tried to chase them down until Fritzie saw the suspect and asked what he was doing inside his home at that time.

Ranas denied any intentions of stealing when he trespassed his friend’s house, and also asked for apologies from Fritzie for frightening him.

The suspect is currently detained in San Nicolas Police Station pending formal charges to be filed against him for trespassing.
