Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, Deputy Director for Operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) told reporters on Wednesday, June 19, that investigation into the killing of barangay worker took a positive turn after the suspect has been identified.
Furthermore, Mambaling police are now preparing to file a murder charge against the assailant through regular filing.
This means that the suspect will be arrested after the issuance of a warrant of arrest.
Rafter, however, has opted not to disclose the identity and background of the suspect as the investigation is still ongoing.
She said that authorities are waiting for the availability of the victim’s family to formally file the complaint at the police station.
Rafter also gave credit to several witnesses who reportedly cooperated with the authorities in identifying the suspect in the killing of barangay worker.
“We really appreciate sa kaisog sa atong mga lumulopyo nianang lugara. Kay ug wala sila, walay mu-witness, mupadayon gyud ning ing-aning problemaha,” she stated.
As of this writing, police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the possible motive behind Abayan’s death.
