BARANGAYS Pagsabungan and Ibabao-Estancia won their respective championship games in Mandaue City’s 8th Mayor’s Cup basketball tournament last Tuesday at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Pagsabungan defeated Looc, 82-71, to win the Senior A title while Ibabao-Estancia defeated Cabancalan, 67-58, for the Senior B crown.

Former University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) cager Bobby Hatague led Pagsabungan’s run to the title and was later named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the division. The six-footer Hatague was part of the Jaguars team that made the

Cesafi championship round in 2008 but lost to the University of the Visayas.

Ibabao-Estancia, meanwhile, was led to the crown by division MVP Sheldon Gahi.

The team got P20,000 for the win.  Pagsabungan received P30,000.
