Villafuertes bag U-13 titles in age-group badminton

RUSSEL AND RODNEY Villafuerte downed Ramon Cuabo III and Shandy Segundin, 21-14, 21-11, to top the 13-under boys’ doubles competition of the Age Group Badminton Tournament 2015 last Monday evening at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The event, supported by the Cebu City Sports Center and the White Feathers Badminton Club, featured several age groups from which different winners emerged.

In the girls’ 13-under, winners were Jeneleen Talledo and Irish Villaver, who defeated Dominnique Cabahug and Hannah Letigio, 31-11.

Andrea Aguillon and Samantha Dela Cruz, meanwhile, defeated Allyson Ramos and Lilianna dela Cruz, 21-15, 21-12, to top the girls’ 15-under category.

Almary Ybañez and Eclaire Satera downed Samantha dela Cruz and Clara Sordilla, 21-11, 21-13, for the girls’ 17-under title.

In the boys’ 17-under division, Joseph Babad and Lucky Daclan defeated Edeleen Talledo and Clifford Villegas, 21-5, 21-8, to emerge champions.

Winners in the 20-25 women’s category were Yoshie Ueki and Aki Tokumitso, who trampled Eleen Talledo and Abegail Relacion, 31-11.

Competition in other age groups were still being played as of press time.
