LTO-7 summons radioman

A RADIO blocktimer who used a suspected fake license plate on his motorcycle has been invited to appear before the Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) on Monday.

Roger Cimafranca, who hosts two paid programs on dyLA, was served the letter of summons yesterday morning by LTO-7 enforcer Ronaldo Curla at the dyLA station in Pier 1, Cebu City. Lina Lauron, the station’s finance officer, received the letter since Cimafranca was not around.

Joel Maloloy-on, LTO-7’s chief division officer who signed the letter, also asked Cimafranca to bring his driver’s license, certificate of vehicle registration and the official receipt of the motor vehicle with plate number 7TC-M-1068.

LTO-7 is examining the authenticity of his vehicle’s registration as well as his driver’s license.

LTO-7 will also investigate Cimafranca for his statement in a viral video taken on May 20.

He was heard saying: “Kabaw ko sayop ko but strikto ra kaayo ka. Pahangyo man gani ang LTO na unsa ra man ka.” (I know I’m wrong but you’re too strict. Even LTO would consider.)

Maloloy-on said the investigation on Monday would be Cimafranca’s chance to express his side.

If Cimafranca fails to appear on Monday, a second and last summons will be sent to him.

Failure to heed the second summons will allow LTO-7 to issue a decision.

Cimafranca drew public outrage after he was caught on video berating a traffic enforcer for refusing to grant his plea not to issue a traffic ticket for two violations at the South Road Properties (SRP) last May 20.

Cimafranca  introduced himself as a member of the media and threatened enforcer Lyndon Lito Ocampo.

Cimafranca said in a raised voice that he will ask Mayor Michael Rama to transfer or fire Ocampo.

Cimafranca was stopped for carrying two back riders who were not wearing helmets in violation of the Cebu City Traffic Code.

Earlier, LTO-7 director Arnel Tancinco said the prefix 7TC of Cimafranca’s motorcycle plate number means the plate was issued in the Talisay City LTO extension office.

Tancinco also said the plate number could not be found in records.

Maloloy-on said the renewal of vehicles’ registration is done yearly while driver’s licenses are renewed every three years.

Cimafranca also faces penalties for overloading and allowing his two passengers not to wear crash helmets when Ocampo stopped him at the South Road Properties (SRP) last Wednesday.

Citom is preparing to file criminal charges against the broadcaster for violating City Ordinance 801 or the Traffic Code of Cebu City.
