Androids, Bulldogs still lead divisions

THE 1985 Androids-Aceite de Manzanilla and the 1994 Bulldogs continued to hold on to the lead in their respective divisions after they pulled off wins in the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Summer League which was held over the weekend at the USC North Campus gym.

In Division 1, the Androids once again went to their proven duo of former pro Lou Regidor and Bing Pua to crush the 1986 Mighty Geeks, 75-44.

Regidor scored a whopping 34 markers while Pua cashed in 22 to push the Androids to their seventh victory in as many games.

Not to be outdone, the 1988 Barakos and the 1993 Dragons kept within striking distance as the former took care of the Bai 91, 79-55, behind Dindo Sauza’s 28 and Edmund Odulio’s 22 points. The Dragons, on the other hand, edged the 1990 Titans-Modern Solutions, 78-74, as Bong Eleazar sizzled for 24 points.

Both the Barakos and the Dragons are in second place with similar 6-1 (win-loss) records.

In other results, the Titans blasted the Mighty Geeks, 75-64, to even their record at 4-4, while the Bro 1987 routed the 1984 Knights, 62-44.

In Division 2, the 1994 Bulldogs nabbed their seventh win in eight outings with a pulse-pounding 56-54 win over the 1999ers.
Sigmundo Cabrera led the Bulldogs with 15 while James Lu had a dozen to help the Bulldogs give the 1999ers their first loss in seven games.

The 1999ers earlier came away victorious over the 2001 Dos Mil Uno-Lite Shipping, 70-56.

In other games, Millennium 2000 got a couple of victories, first beating the 1997 Ronins, 91-89, before dispatching of the Faculty Warriors, 76-66.

Sipat 1998 also creamed the 1995 Pirates, 66-52, while the Ronins bounced back with a 74-67 win over the 1996 Chubbies.
