Independence Day was awaken by a fire alarm in barangay Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City at 6:32 a.m.

The fire started in a two-storey house of Ryan Paragoso.

Cebu City Fire Marshall, Rogelio Bongabong told Cebu Daily News that three fire trucks immediately responded to the alarm but partially more than 10 houses were still gutted in the fire.

The fire was immediately declared under control at 6:55 a.m., 23 minutes after the alarm was received.

The fire was out at 8:54 a.m, Cebu City Fire Investigator, Lowel Opolentisima said.

When the fire started Paragoso woke up in awe, said he was disoriented and forgot to bring the baby with him while trying to escape the fire with his two other children.

Paragoso tried to come back for the baby but he was not able to get inside their burning house anymore since their second floor collapsed.

Paragoso’s four-month-old baby boy’s body, John Carlo Paragoso was found hanging dead on its bed inside their house after the fire incident.

His four-month-old baby boy was accidentally left inside the room that was first to catch fire in barangay Lorega San Miguel.

Paragoso sustained a burn on his right foot during the fire. It was treated immediately by responders.

Cebu City Fire Investigator, Lowel Opolentisima said that the estimated cost of damages caused by the fire was one hundred-fifty thousand pesos (Php 150,000.00). Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) Investigators are still trying to find out the cause of the fire.
