The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters needed a strong finishing kick to finally end an alarming slide as they sneaked from behind to dispatch the lowly Blackwater Elite, 98-91, last night in the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

“We have to keep on working. We haven’t been playing very well, that’s what we’re doing right now,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico, whose wards snapped a four-game slide and bagged their fourth in nine games.

The Tropang Texters leaned on their second-stringers to avoid a major upset.

Talk ‘N Text’s second-stringers outscored their counterparts, 60-32, with Matt Ganuelas-Rosser leading the way by scoring 21 points, 11 coming in the fourth period.

Talk ‘N Text trailed by as many as 16 points and didn’t taste the lead until the fourth quarter when Larry Fonacier dropped one of his four triples.

Fonacier finished with 20 points.

The loss further pulled Blackwater down the standings with a dismal 1-7 (win-loss) record.

Cebuano rookie Brian Heruela led the Elite with 21 points, 11 assists and seven boards.

Debuting Blackwater import Marcus Cous had 16 points. The Elite brought in Cousin while Marcus Douthit is playing with the Gilas in Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
