Expect rainy season at end of the month

THE rains in the past days do not mean that the rainy season is here.

Alfredo Quiblat, acting chief for Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) Mactan said that Cebu will continue to experience unexpected rains this week.

“Last 2014, Pagasa declared the official rainy season on June 10. There is a delay of rainy season this year because weak El Niño is still here. Part of the forecast is that the rainy season might be at the end of the month,” Quiblat explained.

The amount of rainfall in the previous days was not enough for the farmlands and water sources to recover from the effects of the weak El Niño.
