A taxi driver was found locked up in the trunk of his taxi in a secluded area in Mandaue City at dawn last Saturday.
Barangay tanods rescued Junnie Tejano, who said he was robbed by two men then locked up in the taxi’s baggage compartment.
Tejano, 36, is the driver of Shane Taxi with plate number GXG-137.
He said two men flagged him down in barangay Tipolo and asked to be brought to barangay Pagsabungan.
They were traveling in a dark area when the two men, who were in the back seat, pointed guns at him and declared a holdup, said the driver.
After robbing him of his earnings of P1,800, the two men tied him up and placed him in the trunk.
The robbers drove the taxi to a secluded area in barangay Tawason and abandoned the unit.
SPO1 Silverio Aparicio said two passersby heard banging from inside the compartment and called barangay tanods.
