One of ALA Boxing Gym’s top prospect, Mark Vincent “Machete” Bernaldez, officially signed the contract to finalize his first fight abroad.

According to his promoter, ALA Promotions International CEO Michael Aldeguer, everything’s been ironed out for Bernaldez’s fight in Tokyo, Japan, where he is set to face Tsuyoshi Tameda.

Aldeguer said that both camps are set to review the contract and wait for the final schedule of the fight.

This will be an acid test for the unbeaten Cebuano, who honed his skills by fighting in the undercards of the famed Pinoy Pride Series and ALA-Cobra Tunay Na Lakas fight cards in the country.

Bernaldez, who is currently training here in Cebu, took time off last Sunday to join a local fun run. There, he confirmed that he already signed the contract to fight Tameda.

The 23-year-old Bernaldez said he is excited for his first fight abroad.

But Aldeguer said Bernaldez should try his best to win this fight for the sake of the boxer’s career.

“We are not that confident if he will win because it’s his first time to fight abroad. But I am sure he will do his best to win because this will serve as a stepping stone, considering we have a lot of plans prepared for him,” Aldeguer said.

Bernaldez holds an unbeaten record of 15 wins with 10 knockouts while the 21-year old Tameda, also a prospect fighter coming from Nagano, Japan, sports a record of 11 wins with nine knockouts coupled with a single loss and two draws.

“If he wins, his future looks bright,” Aldeguer said.
