An officer of the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) was reprimanded by the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas for using two government-issued vehicles in an employee’s wedding three years ago.
Claro Cagigas Jr., manager of the Port Management Division, was admonished for violating office rules and regulations. Since it was his first offense, the penalty was light.
The anti-graft office admonished him that a repeat of the offense would draw a more severe penalty — 30 days suspension for a second offense or dismissal from service for a third offense.
Another division manager, Ernesto Boltron Jr., was cleared by the Ombudsman after he showed proof that he had no more control over the vehicle after he was reassigned in 2010.
An anonymous complaint was filed over the use of two government vehicles at a wedding reception at Carmen Copper Corporation in Lutopan, Toledo City on August 25, 2012.
Cagigas was one of the wedding sponsors. The two vehicles were issued to Boltron and Cagigas in 2009.
The anti-graft office said no trip tickets were issued to justify the use of the two vehicles.
