ALL IS SET for the Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship 2015-Visayas Leg that will be held at the SM City Cebu event center this weekend.
Around 300 junior wood pushers will vie in three different divisions: kiddies, juniors and seniors.
The kiddies category will feature players from 7 to 12 years old, while the junior division will be for players aged 13 to 16. Players from 17 to 20 years old will compete in the seniors division.
“With the ever-growing number of players now taking up the sport, Shell believes in empowering the youth by giving them the opportunity to hone their skills and be the best they can,” said Shell social investment manager Jackie Ampil.
“We continue to innovate our tournament program to produce more competitive, top caliber athletes that will someday be our national pride.”
The organizers have yet to announce the seeded and noted junior wood pushers who will join this weekend.
