THE remains of five more passengers who perished in the capsizing of the MB Kim Nirvana-B in the waters near Ormoc City port area last July 2 have yet to be buried in Pilar, Camotes Islands.

Pilar Mayor Jesus Fernandez said the remains of the victims are expected to be buried within this week. The remains of 43 Pilar residents who perished in the tragedy arrived in the town last July 5.

The bodies of the passengers from Tudela and Poro have already been interred. Tudela Mayor Erwin Yu said all 11 of his constituents who died have been buried.

Of the 11, four were buried in Ormoc City the day after the tragedy, while the seven were buried in Tudela last Saturday.

Poro Mayor Luciano Rama Jr. said the only fatality from his town was laid to rest  last Thursday.

Fernandez said his constituents no longer face a  food shortage following the lifting of the gale warning last Saturday morning which allowed them to travel in small vessels.

He also said the Cebu provincial government sent them 2,100 relief packs from Friday to Saturday.
