Officials of the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) were sued for gross negligence after some of its elementary students got hurt when the school’s folding doors fell last March.
Parents of Rico (not his real name) filed a civil case before the Cebu City Regional Trial Court last Monday after the 9-year-old boy purportedly suffered trauma and a swollen leg due to the accident.
Assisted by lawyer Irene Ann Caballes, the plaintiffs requested the court to order USP-F to pay P450,000 in damages.
Named respondents in the complaint were USP-F president Alicia Cabatingan, school trustee and finance manager Rosalina Sepulveda, and the board of trustees.
Sought for comment, a secretary of USP-F who requested anonymity said no one from the school can comment on the complaint since all its directors and officers were having a seminar yesterday.
