Osmeña grandchild spends 1st birthday with street kids

CHILDREN at the Parian Drop-in Center had spaghetti, pork barbecue, cotton candy and ice cream

for snacks yesterday.
They were the special guests of Ana Margarita Victoria “Anita” Osmeña, first grandchild of

former mayor Tomas Osmeña and Cebu City Councilor Margarita “Margot” Osmeña, in the celebration

of her first birthday.
She will celebrate her first birthday today but the family had her birthday party held

yesterday afternoon with 27 kids at the drop-in center.
Cathy Yso, head of the center, said they now house 27 children aged 4 to 17 years old.
Some of the children are victims of violence and sexual abuse. Some were abandoned by jailed

parents.
“We decided to keep it a very simple party with Filipino food. And since the baby does not

have friends, it was Bea’s idea that we hold it here at the drop-in center,” said Miguel

Osmeña, Anita’s father and son of the former mayor and councilor.
Miguel added that Bea also went to Carbon Market to buy toys and candies for the giveaways.
“This way, even if our baby does not have friends yet and even if she does not know what’s

going on makahatag ta’g kalipay sa mga bata (we can spread joy among the kids at the drop-in

center),” he said.
Kids were also treated to games and prizes, a magic show and a bubble dance.
Today, members of the Osmeña and Villegas families will gather for dinner to celebrate Anita’s

birthday, said Miguel.
