The Arellano University Chiefs remain red-hot as they won their fourth game in a row with a 104-92 victory over the San Sebastian Stags in the 91st NCAA men’s basketball tournament on Friday at the Arena in San Juan.

The win placed the Chiefs in a three-way tie with both Perpetual Help and San Beda at 4-1, a half-game behind the unbeaten Letran Knights. Dioncee Holts finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds while Zach Nicholls and Donald Gumaru added 13 apiece. Jiovani Jalalon was held down to just eight points but more than made up for it with a career-high 16 assists.

The Chiefs swished a total of 14 three-pointers, six of which came in the final period which helped them pull away for good after leading by just three, 69-66, heading to the last frame.

Meanwhile, Tey Teodoro exploded for 16 of his 25 points in the fourth period to help the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers defeat the Lyceum Pirates, 75-60.

Teodoro’s breakout game came at the right time for JRU who has now won two straight after a slow start to the season. Teodoro scored 15 straight in that stretch that pushed the Heavy Bombers in front, 73-60.
