Passenger vessel catches fire in Ormoc; 2 hurt

A passenger vessel caught fire while docked at Ormoc Port, 4:20 a.m., Saturday.

MV Wonderful Stars of Roble Shipping carrying 544 passengers left Cebu port at 10:30 a.m. and arrived at 3:50 a.m.

Coast Guard Eastern Visayas District Commander Capt. William Isaga said the Bureau of Fire Department declared the fire under control.

Two crew members were brought to the hospital after sustaining minor burns.The CEO of Roble Shipping, Jose Emery Roble said in a press briefing earlier that all passengers were safe.

The fire started at the cargo area. Fire probers are still investigating the cause of the fire.

“We are open for Marina and Philippine Coast Guard for investigation,” Roble said.
