Six men suspected to be involved in the spate of robberies in southern towns of Cebu were arrested last Tuesday night.

Arrested were Jose Montero, 41; Arnel Lacion, 39; Jimmy Cañedo, 25; Federico Dacalos, 34; Lordicillo Cabaron, 41; and Julius Cesar Climaco.

Assorted firearms were seized from the six men, who were arrested by the Balamban and Toledo police  and a special unit from  the Armed Forces.

Police said the suspects were caught sniffing shabu in their suspected hideout in barangay Nangka, Balamban.

Law enforcers rushed to the area after they received a report about the presence of armed persons.

Senior Insp. Florendo Pajardo, chief of the Balamban Police Station, said the six were members of a robbery group preying on collectors.

Among the items seized during the arrest were assorted bullets, a .45 caliber pistol, two .357 magnum revolvers, a .38 revolver, a KG9 sub-machine pistol and a medium-sized plastic pack of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, chief of the Cebu provincial police, said four members were still at large.

The group was considered to be dangerous and could be used in the coming elections, Gillamac, said.
