One-stop shop for Mandaue products opens
A one-stop shop for Mandaue-made products opened last Monday in the City Times Square in the Mandaue reclamation area.
At least 40 companies from Mandaue, Talisay and Minglanilla displayed their products at the one-stop shop called #iammandaue.
The project is a joint project of the Mandaue City government, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the private sector.
Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, who attended last Monday’s opening, said the shop is a “dream come true” for the Mandauehanons.
“All of us here, we are harvesting the fruits of labor of our ancestors. In fact, the businesses are the reason why our small city is known in the whole Philippines,” said Cortes in Cebuano.
Rep. Luigi Quisumbing (Cebu 6th district), who also attended the event, said he was grateful for the opening of the Mandaue shop because it would be another way of making Mandaue known worldwide like those pieces of furniture from the city, which are featured in international magazines.
Aside from the display area, the #iammandaue shop will also have a cafeteria that will open in the next few days.
Featured products are divided into two displays: Gold or Mugna sa Mandaue (all Mandaue-made products) and Silver Bahandi sa Sugbo (products made from other parts of Cebu province).
Mandaue delicacies are also featured in the shop. Signature food products that were made and improved by the barangays in the city were also introduced.
These include Bibingka Centro, which are rice cakes with coconut milk topped with beef tapa; Banilad Slider, puto maya stuffed with lechon baboy and larsian sauce; Pao sa Opao, malunggay qua pao bun with roasted chicken, masareal and peanut butter filling; and Pizza Binangus, Labogon special pizza dough topped with bangus, fermented bolinao with cheese and regular spices.
The participating companies include Matimco (wood), Mobelhaus (furniture), and Mandaue Foam Industries, Inc. (home furniture).
Product prices range from P30 to P70,000.
Aside from these, a mobile application that will notify mobile phone users about shops 500 meters away from them will soon be launched.
This developed after the MCCI and Red Star signed a memorandum of agreement for the project last week.
