A woman and her 11-year old daughter were killed before their bodies were thrown in a septic tank in their house in Phase 2 of Deca Homes in barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

The decomposing bodies of Virginia Sharpe, 37, and her daughter Mica Ella bore multiple stab wounds.  They were found past 9 a.m. yesterday after  neighbors complained to the police of a stench coming from  the house.
Virginia’s husband is a foreigner based in London.

Three suspects including the carpenter hired by the family for house repairs  were arrested and charged with double murder and robbery.

The victims may have been killed four or five days ago, said  Chief Insp. Richard Gadingan, chief of the Minglanilla police.

Police first arrested Manuel Labrador, who was the last person who worked in the house last week. Stolen items were found in his possession,  including a camera, cellphone and silver necklace. Labrador reportedly borrowed P25,000 from Virginia, who gave him until yesterday to settle his debt.

He gave the names of two other  laborers, Estelito Sasidor Recamora, 58, and George Mamac Baquiran, 47, both habal-habal drivers.  The three buried the bodies in the septic tank and placed tiles over it.

Recamora said he didn’t know anything about the deaths until Labrador asked his help to bury two dead dogs.

He said he was surprised to see the lifeless victims when they arrived in the house and that Labrador threatened to shoot them if they told anyone about it. /WITH APPLE MAE M. TA-AS
