India

India marked its 69th Independence Day last August 15. Seven decades of freedom was celebrated by Indians all over the globe including Indians in Cebu.

The Cebu Indians Cultural Group also gathered to commemorate Independence of the republic of India at hotel Radisson Blu. It was the largest gathering of Indians living in Cebu; with over 150 people from the Indian community joining in the celebrations.
As a group, the event focused in connecting all the Indians living in Cebu and celebrating Indian Festivals with great enthusiasms.

They meet to stay connected to our roots, meet to ensure their kids are aware of our history and cultural heritage. They celebrate the unique oneness of all fellow Indians in-spite of the diverse background they come from.

This year’s theme of the Independence Day celebrations was “Unity in Diversity”. The event was celebrated by singing the Indian National Anthem with great devotion and paying tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

There was a special activity for all the kids to dress up as freedom fighters or in any state ethnic attire and remembering the slogans of our martyrs. There were various other cultural activities like Indian classical dance & folk dance. Radisson Blu was very generous in sponsoring 3 raffle prizes for this event.
