AN ELECTRICIAN was electrocuted while five others were injured after they were exposed to electric shock  in separate incidents in southern Cebu.

The fatality, Elegio Habasa, 22,  was installing the electrical wiring of a house in Lumina Subdivision in  Carcar City when the accident happened last Thursday afternoon.

Habasa is a resident of  barangay Manipis, Talisay City.

He tried to connect the wiring from the main line  to the newly-constructed house when he accidentally touched a live wire, said PO2 Lauro Laurel.

The man fell to the ground.

He was taken to the Carcar District Hospital but  died along the way.

In barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla town, five construction workers were injured after the crane they used to unload a container van got into contact with a high-voltage wire of the  Visayan Electric Company (Veco).

Adam Lirazan,  the crane operator, was about to lift the container van from the trailer truck when the boom of the crane hit a live wire.

There was a  loud explosion  before the workers were jolted by electricity.

Also injured in the incident were Milbert Opianga, Virgilio Alibaya, Quintilon Sabellano and Lorway Aloro Jr.

The victims were  rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 61-year-old housemaid was electrocuted while hanging laundry on a clothesline last Thursday noon.

Police said the clothesline was attached to an electric post of the Mactan Electric Company.  It had rained before the incident.

The victim was Angelina Bucao  of Sacred Heart Village in barangay Gun-ob.
