Organizers of Saturday’s race still expecting number to rise

Expect a huge crowd of runners wearing their favorite superhero costume to swarm the streets along the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City this Saturday.

This after organizers of the first-ever Justice League Run said that 2,000 runners have already enlisted for the running event slated this Saturday starting  at the SM City Cebu car park.

Coco Running’s Joel Juarez, who is the race director of the event organized by the Global Procurement Inc. (GPI),  said despite the huge number of entries, they are still expecting more to register in the coming days.

“We already reached 2,000 runners but we are still accepting registration until supplies last,” Juarez said. “We hope that more will join this running event. We promise the participants a memorable run.”

The number is still a far cry from the 10,000 who joined in the Manila leg last April.

Registration is still going on for the 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k running event. Interested participants can register at Zalora.com.ph, Chris Sports outlets in SM City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu, Radisson Blu Hotel and Cebu IT Park.

GPI, which  got the rights to promote the running event in the country after getting the nod from Warner Bros. Inc., brought the unique footrace to Cebu after hearing about the growing Cebuano running community.

Making this running event unique is that each runner will get to choose what DC Comics superhero singlet will they wear on race day.

Registration fee is pegged at P600 for the 3k, P700 for the 5k and P800 for the 10k inclusive of the authentic DC Universe singlet, a string bag full of goodies and a specially designed finishers medal.
