Old man fell off raft, carried away by strong water current

MANDAUE City Hall’s rescue team is still searching for the whereabouts of an elderly man who fell into and was swept by the strong current of the Butuanon River in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City early today.

Leah Veraces, an employee of the Maguikay barangay hall identified the missing elderly man as Faustino Tulod.

The 73-year-old Tulod was passing through the Butuanon River on board a raft when he slipped and fell over.

It rained at noon in Mandaue City resulting in the strong water current at the Butuanon River.

Tulod carried a pail containing pig feed during his trip to the other side of the river where his pig pen is located.

The City Risk Reduction Management Council sent a team to search for Tulod but they have yet to locate him as of 5:30 p.m. today.
