By: John Carlo Villaruel - Cebu Daily News | October 19,2015 - 10:11 PM

THE CEBU Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) is planning to conduct running clinics next year in the hopes of finding a new generation of talent who can compete in the anniversary run in August 2016.
CPSC administrator Brando Velasquez said this plan will push through as soon as the budget is  approved by the provincial board.
“If the budget will be approved, we will organize running clinics and competitions in different towns,” Velasquez said.
The best talents from those running events will then be given the chance to show their skills in the anniversary run to be held in Cebu City.
Aside from running, CPSC is also looking to hold more dragon boat races, especially after the  successful competition held last month in Danao City.
“Other than the grassroots development program, the sports commission is also supporting emerging sports like dragon boat,” Velasquez said.
He said the sport can flourish in Cebu it is surrounded by the sea.
“The whole Province of Cebu is surrounded by the sea. It’s like we have a built-in venue [for dragon boat].”
Meanwhile, CPSC will organize a fun run to kick-start the Drug Awareness Week this Nov. 15 starting at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Grounds.
