Rama in Japan for conference

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama left for Yokohama, Japan yesterday for the 4th Asia Smart City Conference.

The mayor will discuss Cebu City’s practices on Public and Private Partnership in the two-day conference that is hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the City of Yokohama from October 19-21.

Traveling with the mayor were Evelyn Nacario-Castro, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc’s. (RAFI) Head of Metro Cebu’s Coordinating Board and Dominica Chua, chief operating officer of RAFI.

The mayor’s travel is paid by the organizing committee, excluding the RAFI delegates.  “I am also renewing my partnership with Yokohama regarding our sustainable environment development plan,” the mayor said.

The event will also discuss adequate procurement process and risk sharing on financial contribution from the local and central government.

Other countries invited in the event are: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Rama will be in Manila to attend to some business on Oct. 22-24 and will return to Cebu City on Sunday, Oct. 25. /Cebu Technological University Intern Marc Eric Cosep
