Cebuana Amit second in China tilt
CEBUANA cue master Rubilen Amit fell short of her goal to win the 2015 Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) Beijing Miyun International tournament over the weekend at Beijing, China.
The Mandaue-born billiard artist bowed to second-ranked Chen Siming of China, 9-11, in the finals to finish second place.
After being down two racks at the start, Amit ignited a comeback and took an 8-6 lead against her Chinese counterpart midway through the game.
A crucial error in the 15th rack by Amit was the turning point of the game and Chen Siming capitalized on it, to run away with the win.
Before the finals, Amit also outlasted two Chinese players in the group stages before pulling off monumental upsets in the next rounds, beating Korean cue artist Eunji Park, 9-5, current world number one GA Young Kim, 9-8, in the quarterfinals and former World 10-ball champion Gao Meng, 9-8, in the semifinal round.
Amit is set to compete in the upcoming World 9-ball championships also in China next month.
