A 17-year-old female college student lost her bag with at least  P20,000 cash while dining in a fast food chain in downtown Cebu City.

Thrisia Gubaton said she suspected that a woman and a man bringing a toddler were behind the theft.  Gubaton said she eating alone in Jollibee at the corner of Colon and Borromeo Streets last Tuesday morning.

While she was eating, she noticed a man from another table  staring at her. Later, the man and the woman transferred to another table near her. They put the child on the floor.

Gubaton said she watched the child wander around.

After the three left, Gubaton noticed that her bag was missing.

The bag also contained a cellphone worth P48,000.

Senior Insp. Rolito Supatan said investigators are checking the video  footage of the store’s security camera  to try to identify the suspects.

Police said child abuse charges could be filed against the culprits if it’s proven that they used the child in the  theft.
