POLICE are looking for a boy suspected of stealing the firearm of a policeman, whose car was ransacked outside a church in barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City last Sunday.

The boy reportedly pawned the 9mm caliber pistol of PO3 Bryan Lima-lima Pastor to a still-unidentified man in barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Senior Insp. Rolito Supatan said police went to Duljo-Fatima yesterday  looking for the man who bought the gun, but he wasn’t around.

Police said they suspect that the boy had other cohorts.

Pastor, who is assigned at the Firearms Explosives Security Service Agency and Guards Supervisory Section, was attending a religious service at the Bethel Temple Church when his Honda Fit sedan was ransacked.

One door behind the driver’s seat was destroyed. The policeman’s slingbag containing the handgun, four magazines, 50 bullets, a handcuff, P1,500 cash and other belongings was taken.

In a separate incident, a car was also broken into while parked in the basement of Parklane Hotel in Escario Street.

The incident was captured in video footage of the security camera.

Only the car keys were taken from the vehicle  owned by Suana Etoc. A man was earlier  seen parking his FX beside the car. When the car alarm blasted, the suspect identified as Regie Vergara stayed in the FX. When the alarm stopped, he was seen opening one door and taking the car keys, said  Senior Insp. Hartzel Billedo.

Police said the car owner was advised to change all keys in the key ring for security purposes. Vergara was identified from previous police records.
