IT’S ALL systems go for the 80/80 Triathlon in San Remegio town, north Cebu today.
Around 300 triathletes will be competing in the race headed by defending champion Jory Ycong.
Ycong was initially disqualified in the Safeguard For Men 5150 triathlon in Bohol but Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the organizing team of the race, later awarded back third place to him.
Kristiane Lim of Alaska Triaspire, who was awarded third placer before SEI gave it back to Ycong, will also compete today in the elite division along with Ycong, lone Filipino off-road triathlete Joseph Miller and newly crowned Filipino elite champion of the Safeguard For Men 5150 Triathlon Paul Jumamil of Bohol.
The first 80/80 race was held in Sogod town, North Cebu last May. The race features 1.8-kilometer swim, 65k bike and 14k run. There will also be a 40/40 category to be featured in the race, which will have half the distances of the three disciplines.
