Fiery guard RR Garcia fired 11 straight points in a sizzling run in the fourth quarter that towed the surging Barako Bull Energy to a 93-85 win over the Mahindra Enforcers last night in an out-of-town offering of the 41st PBA Philippine Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
Garcia’s endgame brilliance helped the Energy notch their first win streak in the tournament, bagging a second straight victory to improve 3-2 (win-loss).
Barako Bull’s record is good for sixth spot in the standings as they trail the Alaska Aces, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, GlobalPort Batang Pier and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, who are tied from second to fifth spots with identical 3-1 records.
The San Miguel Beermen lead the standings with a 4-1 slate.
Garcia, a former MVP in the UAAP where he suited up for the Far Eastern University (FEU), was extra efficient, firing a game-high 27 points in just 26 minutes of play.
Garcia shot 10-for-14 from the field. He highlighted his superb game with a brilliant fourth-quarter attack where he unloaded 16 of his total output, including the string of baskets that bailed the Energy out of danger.
JC Intal ably backed Garcia with 20 points, while Willy Wilson donated 11 markers.
Mark Yee led the Enforcers with 17 points, while LA Revilla contributed 14 markers.
Mahindra fell to 1-1.
