A 24-YEAR-OLD man was arrested last Friday for the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was found in Tabok Lamak, barangay Yati, Liloan town.

John Harvey Calan was caught by Liloan police after a witness saw him leaving the area where the body of Emarie Augusto was found.

Police said the victim was probably drowned by Calan in a pool of muddy water in the area.

Police said Calan hid at their toilet when they went to their house to arrest him.

Bernardita, the victim’s mother, identified the cell phone recovered from Calan as that of her daughter’s.

Police said the witness told them that he saw Calan carrying the victim’s bag as he left the area.

Calan told police that he gave the valuables inside the bag to another woman.

Police are checking if Calan indeed gave the valuables to this woman.

Police said they believe that Calan planned only to rob Augusto, but when she fought back, Calan killed her.

Calan is detained at the Liloan police station pending the filing of charges.
