A RUMOR about one man’s wife using illegal drugs led to the shooting yesterday of a 41-year-old truck driver inside the Gochan Delco warehouse in barangay Quiot Pardo, Cebu City.

Richard Gallo died after he was shot in the back by his friend, Victoriano Serencio, 45, who lived outside the warehouse. The bullet went right through Gallo’s chest.

Police said Serencio confronted Gallo about his alleged spreading of rumors that Serencio’s wife is using illegal drugs.

The confrontation became heated, leading to a scuffle and then to a fistfight. When the two men separated, Serencio pulled out a handgun and chased Gallo who tried to escape by running inside the warehouse.

But Serencio pursued Gallo inside the warehouse and shot Gallo in the back when he stumbled inside the warehouse.

Serencio then fled after the shooting. He remains at large.

The victim’s remains are at St. Francis Funeral Homes.
